General questions

Cosmetic tattooing (also known as micropigmentation or semi-permanent makeup) involves implanting pigment into the skin using a specialised machine or hand tool.

Unlike body tattoo ink, cosmetic pigments are designed to fade gradually over time, allowing results to evolve naturally.

Yes, and this is intentional.

Cosmetic tattoo pigments fade gradually due to:

  • Skin type.
  • Lifestyle.
  • Sun exposure.
  • Skincare.
  • Immune response.

This allows results to be refreshed and adjusted over time.

Cosmetic tattooing is a two-step process.

New clients require:

  • An initial appointment.
  • A touch-up appointment.
  • Brows & eyeliner: 5–8 weeks.
  • Lips: 6–8 weeks.

Both appointments must be booked together to ensure availability.

Touch-ups allow me to:

  • Refine colour and shape.
  • Adjust areas that healed lighter.
  • Add definition if desired.

This appointment finalises your result once healing is complete.

Discomfort varies per person, but comfort is prioritised.

Most clients rate the sensation 1–2 out of 10.
Advanced numbing and a calm environment are part of your experience.

If you’ve had cosmetic tattooing from another artist or studio, photo approval is required before booking.

Please send clear, well-lit photos (front and side views) for assessment.

Photos allow me to assess:

  • Existing pigment depth and colour.
  • Skin health.
  • Whether correction, refresh or removal is required.

If the existing tattoo is too dark, heavily saturated or asymmetrical, treatment may not be possible without prior removal.

Booking without approval may result in cancellation and loss of deposit.

EYELINER TATTOO

  • Lash Line Enhancement (most natural)
  • Top Eyeliner (soft definition, optional wing)

I do not specialise in very thick or dramatic eyeliner, as im all about timeless looks.

No. Results soften by 30–40% as they heal.

Typically 3–5+ years, depending on style and skin type.

Healing is mild and quick:

  • Slight darkness initially.
  • Light flaking days 4–6.
  • Final colour settles in 2–4 weeks.

SUITABILITY AND SAFETY

Cosmetic tattooing is ideal for:

  • Busy professionals and parents.
  • Active lifestyles.
  • Clients wanting low-maintenance enhancement.
  • Makeup allergies.
  • Sparse brows or uneven lip tone.
  • Hair loss from medical conditions.

Cosmetic tattooing cannot be performed if you are:

  • Pregnant.
  • Under 18.
  • Experiencing active skin infections.
  • Prone to keloid scarring.
  • Using Accutane/Isotretinoin (within 6-12 months).
  • Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation.
  • Experiencing active cold sores (for lips).

Breastfeeding clients must pump and dump for 48 hours post-procedure.

No. Moles cannot be tattooed over.

A 1–2mm gap must be left for skin safety.

Allergic reactions are rare.

If you have known allergies to hair dye or tinting, please let me know, a patch test can be arranged.

BROW TATTOO

Style selection is based on:

  • Skin type.
  • Existing hair.
  • Desired outcome.
  • Longevity and healed results.

Digital machine techniques are often recommended for oily or mature skin due to better for gentle application & increased retention.

Yes. Final style selection is confirmed during your consultation.

Typically 1–3+ years, depending on:

  • Skin type.
  • Lifestyle.
  • Pigment choice.
  • Aftercare.
  • Style choice

Many clients refresh every 12–18 months.

Pigments are selected using advanced colour theory, undertone analysis and your natural brow hair colour.

Colours are chosen for healed results, not how they look on the day.

  • Waxing: allowed 1 week prior
  • Tinting: avoid 2 weeks prior
  • No henna tint before treatment

LIP TATTOO

Lip blush restores colour, balance and definition while maintaining a natural appearance.

It does not add volume like filler but can create the illusion of fuller, healthier lips.

Lip colours are selected using:

  • Lip and skin undertone analysis.
  • Natural lip pigment.
  • Desired outcome.

You’re welcome to bring a favourite lipstick or balm for inspiration.

On average 2–4+ years, depending on:

  • Skin type.
  • Aftercare.
  • Level of saturation of colour based on style.

Healing takes around 5–6 days:

Day 1–2: Colour appears bold and vibrant & occasionally there might be slight swelling.
Day 3–4: Light flaking/dryness as the top layer starts to flake off.
Day 5-6: The bright top layer has now disappeared & colour looks soft & much lighter.
Weeks 4–6: Colour settles into the lip & colour starts to brighten again.

A touch-up is recommended once healing is complete. See aftercare instructions.

Preventative medication is required prior to treatment. Detailed instructions will be emailed to you once your booking is secured.
If medication isn’t taken, treatment will be postponed and the deposit forfeited.

I recommend having lip filler first to restore volume and hydration. Once the filler has fully settled, lip tattooing can be performed to refine shape, enhance symmetry and add colour. A minimum waiting period of 4 weeks post-filler is required before tattooing to ensure the lips are fully healed.

A minimum waiting period of 4 weeks post-filler is required before tattooing to ensure the lips are fully healed.

This depends on your desired outcome. Lip filler adds volume and projection, while lip tattooing restores lost colour, enhances shape and can create the illusion of fuller lips.
Filler is a higher ongoing investment, typically requiring maintenance every 6 months, whereas lip tattooing lasts 1–3+ years, with optional colour boost treatments every few years.

For many clients, tattooing is a more cost-effective way to enhance the lips long term. You’re welcome to send through a photo for assessment, and I can guide you on the best option based on your goals.
