Beginner courses

My beginner training is designed to teach you the why behind the work, not just how to follow steps. You’ll build technical understanding, confidence and safe habits from day one.

1:1 Lip Blush Tattoo

A comprehensive foundation in lip tattooing, focusing on colour theory, lip anatomy, technique and healed results.

1:1 Ombre Brows

Learn machine brow fundamentals with a strong emphasis on skin analysis, pigment behaviour and long-term retention.

Advanced courses

For established artists who want to upskill, refine technique or troubleshoot ongoing challenges. My advanced training focuses on pigment behaviour, skin analysis, healed results and precision, helping you elevate your work, your confidence and your client outcomes.

1:1 Lip Blush Tattoo

For artists ready to master colour retention, custom mix pigments with confidence, achieve cleaner healed results and expertly map every lip shape for the most flattering outcome.

1:1 Misty Powder Brows

Advanced refinement for artists ready to elevate their Ombre Brow technique — creating soft, misty, airbrushed results that heal into beautifully natural brows.

TRAINED BY SOME OF THE MOST RESPECTED ARTISTS IN THE INDUSTRY
ONE PHILOSOPHY FOR COSMETIC ARTISTS EVERYWHERE

The way I teach in the Academy is grounded in the same philosophy used in my own treatment studio.

Education over imitation.

Training focuses on understanding,
not copying. You’ll learn how skin behaves, how different pigments heal and how to your adapt technique to work on different skin types so your work stands up in the real world.

Same standard. Different format.

Every part of the Academy, whether in-person or online*, is created, taught and refined by Katelan Schmidt herself. The same standards, thinking and technique run through everything you learn.

Here for the long-term.

Techniques are taught with healed results in mind. Skin integrity, touch-ups and long-term outcomes are part of the process, not an afterthought.

Support beyond the training.

Your education doesn’t end when training does. You’ll leave with ongoing guidance, clarity and the confidence to apply what you’ve learned as your career grows.

*Online education is designed for skill refinement, knowledge expansion and ongoing professional development.
Certificates of completion are issued through in-person training only.

MEET YOUR TRAINER, Katelan Schmidt

Award-winning PMU Artist, Founder of Unique Blendz and head trainer of The Academy.

Over the last decade, I’ve invested heavily in my cosmetic tattoo education, trained with world-renowned artists, worked on high-profile clients and built a fully booked, trusted cosmetic tattoo business from the ground up.

The Academy exists because I know how overwhelming this industry can feel, and how powerful the right education is when it’s grounded in real experience, not hype.

Everything taught here reflects how I work day-to-day in the studio: skin-first, intentional, and designed for long-term results.

THE HELPFUL STUFF

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

n-person training is designed for artists who want hands-on education, personalised feedback and real confidence behind the machine.

This includes:

  • Beginners entering the PMU industry.
  • Existing artists wanting to upskill, refine technique or correct gaps in their training.
  • Artists who feel stuck, unsure, or inconsistent with healed results.

If you’re looking for shortcuts, fast certification or group-style learning, this training won’t be the right fit.

All in-person training is one-on-one, taught by me, inside my working studio.

That means:

  • No shared attention.
  • No rushed schedules.
  • No diluted content.

Training is adapted to your experience level, learning style and goals, whether you’re holding a machine for the first time or refining advanced work.

Training in the cosmetic tattoo industry is not government-accredited, as formal RTO accreditation is not required to educate or certify artists.

In-person training includes hands-on assessment and certificates of completion.
Online education is designed for ongoing learning, refinement and professional development.

In-person training is not booked online.

The first step is a complimentary discovery call, where we:

  • Talk through your background and goals.
  • Identify the right training option.
  • Discuss availability, investment and next steps.

From there, training dates and payments are confirmed directly with me.

All in-person training takes place at my studio in Robina, QLD, inside a real working studio environment, not a classroom or shared training space.

Training options vary based on your experience level and goals, and may include:

  • Brows (beginner and advanced techniques).
  • Lips (beginner and advanced techniques).
  • Advanced refinement and correction work.

This is discussed during your discovery call to ensure the training is the right fit.

Yes. In-person training includes live model work, where appropriate.

You’ll be guided through:

  • Consultation and assessment
  • Mapping and design
  • Technique execution
  • Healing expectations and troubleshooting

I don’t believe in sending artists into the industry without real-world experience — or allowing advanced artists to leave without every challenge carefully workshopped and troubleshooted.

Training length varies depending on the course and your experience level.

This will be discussed during your discovery call and confirmed before booking so expectations are clear from the start.

Yes. Because technique alone doesn’t build a sustainable business.

Depending on your training, we may cover:

  • Consultations and client communication.
  • Pricing and positioning.
  • Managing expectations and long-term results.
  • Building trust and reputation, not just bookings.
  • Branding that positions you as the expert and attracts aligned, high-value clients.
  • Streamlined systems and processes to run your business with confidence and ease.

This is real-life guidance based on a business I’ve built from the ground up.

No.

During your discovery call, we’ll discuss:

  • Your current experience (or lack of it).
  • Your goals.
  • Whether in-person training is the right next step.

If I don’t believe the training is appropriate for you at this stage, I’ll tell you.

Absolutely. And that’s exactly who it’s for.

This training is designed for artists who want:

  • Skill, not shortcuts.
  • Understanding, not imitation.
  • Long-term confidence, not guesswork.

If that sounds like you, we’ll likely be a great fit.

Yes. In-person training doesn’t end when you walk out of the studio.

You’ll receive ongoing guidance and support, with the option to attend Shadow Days as you begin working on real clients and build confidence in your skills.
