How Long Does the Lip Blush Tattooing Procedure Take & What is the Process?

#1. Consultation & Design

A thorough consultation will commence and our advanced artist will tailor the ultimate lip colour for you - whether this is something bright and defined or a subtle natural result. We then commence a customised design by mapping out the lip area for your approval.

#2. The Procedure

Our naturally toned pigments are applied to the lips using a digital cosmetic tattoo machine. The treatment only goes in approximately 1mm & Topical anaesthetic is applied to your lips throughout the treatment to ensure your comfort.

#3. Post Treatment

Directly after the treatments, in some cases, there can be slight swelling & the colour can be approximately 40% brighter for the first few days. Right after the appointment, expect pouty and vibrant lips as if with a filler and lipstick. All our clients receive an Aftercare Pack & instructions when leaving the studio to ensure your treatment is cared for correctly to receive the best results for you. A Touch-Up appointment is required 6-8 weeks later to finalise the treatment. In this appointment, we can brighten and define any areas if required.

#4. The Healing

Lip Blush Tattoo Treatments heal in approximately 5-7 days. On day 1, the lips will be swollen and produce lymphatic fluid, which requires constant wiping with sterile wipes. By days 2 and 3, expect the lips to darken, dry and softly flake away. This is why we supply a complimentary ointment to keep the lips moisturised during this time. On the fourth day, the tattoo will appear gorgeously natural and healed. The colour takes 6-8 weeks to brighten in the skin before coming back for your touch up appointment. For optimal results, follow your Artists aftercare guidelines.

How Should You Prepare for a Smooth Lip Blush Tattoo Appointment?

It is recommended to steer clear of alcoholic drinks and caffeine a day before the appointment because these may cause the lips to bruise after treatment. It is also best to avoid taking medications or substances that may cause your blood to thin before your session. Clients who suffer from cold sores can receive this treatment, however, we also advise taking cold sore treatment medication to prevent an outbreak while the treated area is healing. Topical cosmetics should also be kept at arm’s length weeks before to avoid harmful interactions between chemicals and the pigment. Before commencing treatment, your lips must not be dry and thoroughly moistured. We recommend using a moisturizing lip balm and Lip Scrub to remove any dry skin prior to your appointment.
